Custom made woodcrafted products to last a lifetime.
Wood species, layout, and finish are chosen board by board. A sample of what's come off the bench lately.
This is a fraction of what's left the shop. Commissions have ranged from wedding gifts to corporate orders.

Deep chocolate brown, tight grain, ages beautifully.
Warm amber-red that darkens with light over time.
Pale and dense, the classic butcher-block wood.
Fiery orange-red, deepening to russet.
Golden and wild, streaked with dark grain.
Vivid violet-brown heartwood, one of a kind.
Iron Shed Woodworks is a small, family-owned woodworking shop based in New Jersey. What started as a hobby has grown into a shop that builds custom cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and live-edge pieces meant to last a lifetime, not end up in a landfill.
Every board is cut, glued, sanded, and finished by hand in our shop. No outsourcing, no mass production, and no two boards exactly alike.
No storefront, no checkout cart. Just tell us what you're picturing and we'll build it. Every order travels through the shop in three stages.
Fill out the request form with your occasion, rough size, and any wood you like. A photo of something similar helps too.
We follow up on species, layout, and engraving, then confirm price and timeline before a single board hits the saw.
Cut, glued, sanded, and oiled by hand, then carefully packed and tied off, ready for your kitchen or a gift box.
A handmade board is wood, not plastic. Give it a few minutes of attention and it stays flat, sealed, and beautiful for decades.
Two habits, and nothing else is required.
Warm water and mild dish soap, right after you use it. A quick wash and wipe is all it takes.
Towel it dry, then stand it on edge so both faces air out evenly. Left flat, one side stays damp and the board can cup.
Never submerge the board in water or put it in the dishwasher
Wood is thirsty, and dry wood cracks. Once a month, condition the board with a food-safe mineral oil such as Howard's, then seal it with a wax blend.
Apply a generous coat of a food-safe mineral oil such as Howard's Cutting Board Oil to every surface, edges and feet included. Let it soak in for 20 to 30 minutes, then wipe off the excess.
Follow with a butcher block conditioner, a wax blend that locks the oil in and repels water. Let it sit 20 minutes, then buff it smooth with a clean cloth.
Sprinkle a few drops of water on the board. If they bead up, the finish is still doing its job. If they soak straight in, it is time to oil and wax.
Tell us the occasion, the wood, and what you'd like engraved. We'll follow up personally to talk through details, pricing, and timeline.
